Feb. 9 -- The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced proposed
changes that will expand veteran access to healthcare benefits for service members exposed to toxic herbicides while serving overseas (VA Press Release).
A 2018 GAO report to Congress failed to substantiate "tactical" herbicide use on Guam. DoD has used that argument to deny benefits to Canal Zone vets for years. Seems "tactical" vs "commercial" herbicides doesn't matter after all.
DDT is not the same as Agent Orange. It doesn't contain 2,4,5-T or dioxin. DDT bioaccumulates in animals that consume it, affecting both nervous and endocrine systems. Studies have shown that grandchildren of exposed mothers were affected.
